Fundamentalism, Extremism, Pseudo-Secularism ...
The recent turn of events in Afghanistan prompted me to write these words. The pain of terrorism has been a part of our lives for many years now. The first incident that i can recount, from when i began to look at these events intellectually, was the unfortunate end of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. The wound has barely been healed by a degree, when another fresh one is inflicted and quite viciously. Man can be so evil when he wants to.
Such incidents are repeated with the simple objective of keeping the fire burning. The issue remains in the minds of the people, disturbing their peace, creating anguish. World conquering is indeed a painful thing. No one should aim at bringing the whole world under one power. It is fraught with so much pain and peril - remember Hitler? Alexander? Uncle Sam, though, does it with wit and aplomb. And is welcomed on a red carpet for the conquerance!!! Something to learn from there, not to oppose.
These ism's somehow form the bane of the life of indians - Fundamentalism, Extremism and for the open quota people in india there is an added pseudo-secularism. This partial treatment at the hands of the government is enough to incite the same amount of hatred as there is in the minds of the extremists. Still, it will never happen. Why? Is it because we have a laid back attitude? We take whatever comes our way, and dont complain? Are we so easy to peddle with? I think it is a small amount of all of these, but a larger quantity of skill and hardwork. We are skilled in finding our ways out of the most complex situations. And we are perpared for all the hardwork that you cut out for us. Make us toil as much as you will, we will be the beneficiaries in the end. We will still remain the cream. You see, you are letting us stay at the top by doing all this...
If it would have been a rosy path, we would have been the more carefree for it. Give us the thorns sir, for we need to learn. Learn to fight upto the very last breath. For without it, we will go to dust.

I am not all blaming the indian mentality in this post.., no. What i have written in the third para is very serious material - not satire. I am not making a joke of the attitude.
All i was trying to say was, the best attitude sometimes grows out of facing the worst treatment. Ironic, but true.
As for terrorism, there is no question that we are fighting it and will fight it. It is unfortunate though that a whole community has been black listed for the bad works of a small section of that community.
